Show City Council Discusses Streets Water Damage Cemetery Care Mayor William P P. P Sullivan presided over this thi's meeting Councilmen pre present se n t were Goerge Gas Gasparac par a c Arthur Durante and Gail K Kummer u m m mer e r. r Councilman Dean Boyle came late he was excused for other business Councilman Richard Martinez was working Attorney Mary Lehmer Marshal Mar Ryan and Supervisor Georgio were also present Minutes of the previous meeting meeting meeting meet meet- ing were read and approved Mrs A Alma Aim 1 m a Jr came to the meeting to see what could be d done 0 n e to prevent the ditch overflowing and washing out yards in Deer Valley The Council promised to go over and see what damage has been done and see what can be done to correct the problem Mr Willard Larsen came to I the meeting representing the Centennial Commission asking for permission to organize organize organize organ organ- ize and sponsor the of July celebration Permission was granted He asked asked if the different organizations took too k over the booths f for o r concessions that they be exempt from paying a license After discussing the request the Council decided that if the merchants who pay a regular license did not object the licenses would be exempt Merrill Sanchez the Cham Cham- ber Representative stated the Chamber would have no objection objection tion to exempting the profit non organizations from paying a license so long as the businesspeople business businesspeople pe people did not object Invitations were received for forthe forthe forthe the Mayor and Council to attend a Road School in Ogden May 22 and 23 Those who are able to attend will do so The bills were presented and approved for payment Councilman Boyle reported on the price pric of getting a seal coat put on Woodside Avenue 1 The contractor has done work for the County for many years He suggested contacting the County to see if there is any wt work k of t this type tyke e being planned eq for any county roads in inthis this this area If so it would be cheaper to have the work done in Park City at the same time 0 Mr Boyle also stated that two new new culverts would have to be put in one on Street and Norfolk and d one on and Tramway He also asked Mr Georgio to run dye in the sewers at the and homes on Woodside Avenue to determine if the water running there is from a sewer line Ways and m means means' ans' ans ansof of ice keeping ping Continued on oh on Page S Six City Council I Continued from Page One I water off the city roads was discussed The first step in correcting correcting correcting cor cor- the problem is s to find where the water is After this is determined then action will be taken to correct the problem 1 Councilman K Kummer u m m e r discussed discussed dis dis- dis cussed the work week of the City Crew He stated that Saturday Saturday Satur Satur- I day and Monday the Supervisor has only one man on the job i He felt that if all three men I worked for the five week days and then had Saturday and Sunday Sunday Sun Sun- day off more could be I plashed One man would have to tobe tobe be on call in case of an emer emer- I gency The Council decided to try this system for a month Supervisor Georgio was instructed instructed in in- in ted to buy a b battery for forone forone forone one of the old trucks to have haveit it ready for the clean cleanup up Councilman Gasparac re reported reported reported re- re ported that the pine trees had arrived and were planted in the Cemetery and that stakes had been placed around them to keep people from driving over them He also moved to buy paint for the cemetery gates and to straighten the fences before Decoration Day Coun Coun- cilam Kummer seconded the motion and it carried Councilman Gasparac stated that some definite decisions must be made about getting the cemetery work done He suggested asking the people who own lots if they are in favor of having perpetual care He also stated that the price of opening and closing of graves and the price of lots must be raised to pay for the cost of men and equipment to do this work Each grave opening and closing now is costing the City much more than what is being charged The Council agreed to contact the people and get their reaction to the perpetual care suggestion The Recorder reports the carpet will be laid in the City offices next week Tuesday May 10 The offices will probably have to be closed the day the majority of the work is done The payroll for the period May 1 to 15 was This being all the business to come before this meeting it was Next meeting will be June 5 6 p.m. p.m.- Violet Terry Terry I City Recorder |
