T T A H e I 1 J TOURIST DOLLARS US BENEFIT EVERYONE OM All AH indications are that the year 1948 1048 will be the greatest test y year ar yet for tourist trado in the United States and that Utah will share in this increased activity Everyone eryon In the state shares In the benefits derived from the Tourist Dollar Dollar Dol Dol- lar as shown In a chart prepared from I figures figures' established by the Babson Dabson In In- J During 1047 1947 it was estimated that more tha than two million tourists visited Utah and left behind them f This is la big business It is fourth in importance importance importance im im- im- im to the State of Utah Only I agriculture mining and manufacturing in tho order named contribute more to the tho welfare of our state It is estimated estimated 1 that with a tI prolonged stay of only one short day that the number of tourists tour tour- late now visiting Utah will raise this amount up to ninety million dollars donars The Tho State Stata Department of Publicity and Industrial Development Is proceeding on the tho theory that the best Immediate Job that can be done is to prolong the stay of or the people who are already visiting Utah Every section of Utah has attractions with sufficient color interest historical background and slid recreational facilities facUlties to interest anyone from anywhere Local people know and appreciate these scenic and sad recreational facilities facUlties available in their own area The Job is to sell what we have havo to offer otter to the tourists passing through the state To reach these people the Department of Publicity has established and co cooperated cooperated co co- operated with all other interested agencies agen agen- agencies I cies cles in setting up Bureaus of Information Information Informs tion manned by trained personnel at ports parts of entry hotels department stores motor courts etc to inform the travelIng traveling traveling travel- travel Ing public on what to see and where to go These Those agencies are supplied with literature that point out the attractions of the tho locality and of the state and answer many of the questions asked by bythe bythe bythe the average tourist During 1947 the Department distributed ed pieces of literature e each h with witha a selling message on Utah A film library has been established which now contains con con- tame eight different films that are aro receiving wide circulation throughout the United States As many as two hundred hundred hun hun- dred prints of one of those these films are now being circulated through forty different outlets all selling Utah and Its scenic scenio attractions Twelve thousand pictures on Utah ll have ve been sent to one hundred twenty-five twenty leading newspapers and magazines Radio travel shows and every known means aro being used to invite people to Utah and to tell them what to see and where to go after they re reach h our state Every citizen of the state can contribute contribute con con- tribute to this project and by so EO doing can contribute to the welfare of the I state Be informed Sell Bell Utah to yourI yourself yourself your your- self your neighbors and to the tho world |
