Show Three Attended Camp for Blind Mrs B Belva va Nowling Henefer Mrs Acel Hales of Echo and Miss Donna Porter of Devils Devil's Slide spent an exciting week at YMCA So Soapstone Camp Cam for the Blind from Aug 11 to 18 The weeks week's activities Included horseback riding volle volley ball basketball bas bas- basketball football tether ball card games checkers chess and many other games handicrafts cookouts cook cook- cookouts I outs and other wonderful mere II atlon A dance dane was held every night much to the the pleasure of the 1125 registered sightless persons per per- sons from all over Utah Church services were Included In Sunday events Old friends greeted each other enthusiastically as they recognized ed voices they had learned to I 1 know at other camps or while attending attending at at- tending school together In Og Og- den One of the ladles ladies was not only blind but deaf but she too was able to communicate with the others as they traced letters in the palm of her hand She was able to Identify her friends by the touch A registered nurse was on hand at all times and trained service workers did everything possible to make the camp Joyful a experience expo to these folks who refuse to be handicapped I Acel Hales and Perry Nowling Joined their wives and Mr and I Mrs Harvey Porter joined their I daughter in some of ot the planned events To all three this was a most week of enjoy ment meat o I |
