| Show f J Recipe of the theBy Week WeeRt l By Dy Sarah Anne Sheridan l r SPICE FRUIT COOKIES One of my fondest memorie of our s sojourn In Europe wa that occasional box from horn hom containing cookies candy a ja of homemade preserves and oth r good things reminiscent of at horn Many readers have children an relatives overseas who too would enjoy oy a n taste of ot some something something something thing from home Here then ia i 1 ia a delicious cookie that travel well i 1 c soft sott shortening 2 c brown sugar packed 2 eggs s c cold coffee 3 3 c sifted flour 1 t I soda 1 t salt 1 t nutmeg 1 t cinnamon 2 c halved seeded raisins raisins' 1 1 c broken nuts Mi Mix well the shortening sugar and eggs Stir in th coffee cortee and add the next fi ingredients which have bee sifted together Mix well Th The Ther r radd add the raisins and nuts Chi ChU for tor 1 hour then hen drop oy round roundel teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart a lightly greased cookie sheet Bake at degrees until sett set about 10 minutes This make about 6 dozen cookies t |
