| Show i 1 Tells of Famed Television Show By Mrs Mra ArvIn Rust Ruit RustOn RustOn On January 23 my 1 b brother r tot o t h her e r Venoy Veno Davies Dalea in Roosevelt Utah received a phone call calt from Charles ker publicity agent from Hollywood telling him that our out mother and her new husband Louis Ray Mired Allred would appear on television on the tile Ralph Edward Ed ward Vard show and could we come down Venoy understood it to be I I This Is III Your Life LIte but we learned later Ralph Edwards has hao three shows Venoy got in touch with all the family and all of us i I were able le to go but my brother Parley In Cor Cortez Cortex es Colorado I So in spite of t the snow storm i we were having here Venoy and Donna Davis Li Lila la McDonald Dena Vena Wilcken and Arvin and I left Salt Lake at 9 pm p.m. on Jan 25 25 We made our trip safely by byear car ear and by I 5 pm p.m. on Jan 26 we were in Hollywood and arid hall had nice motel rooms I Behind the Scenes Scene On Wednesday morning we did dida a bit bitof Of of sightseeing on Sun Sunset et Boulevard and Hollywood and Vine We saw the Moulon Rouge where here they have Queen for tor a aDa aDay aDay Day Da- Daens CBS ens NBC ITLA and many other places of interest At noon we were scheduled at the ABC AnD TV JV Studios so there we were We We met Charles and several t of ot the camera men on scene We were ushered Into a dressing room and were really surprised when a very nice person person per per- son sou c came me in and presented us with for tor our expenses Up till then we were on our own We were rere told before belore we left home that they do not pay the expenses Our first dress rehearsal was mostly to get our positions and Instructions Our second was was to actually make the scene on the stage and to meet Ben Den Alexander the master of ot ceremonies Ralph Edwards Is the producer Then back to the dressing room out of sight so that our mother and Ray would not see us when they came cameto to the show Big Thrill About 3 pm p.m. we heard the first sounds sound of at the the the- program going on the the air lr About Faces There were TV sets placed around the studio and several backstage so eo sowe sowe we were able to watch the entire program Then came our big moment to find fled our out places quietly quietly quiet quiet- ly IT ud nd quickly kl behind the turf cut curI I f tain although although ugh W to ld see rifle and ADd be s seen a b by th the audience but not out our Ut mother Next Ned we saw IL ourselves on TV and then we were out ont on the i stage slate to greet our very surprised mother I Both Floth she and Ray knew they I were to appear on the show but we hadn't let them know we were I to be in Hollywood so they expected ex ex- d to see ee only pictures and I Were er very thrilled to see us in person r on I Reunion After Alter a few short minutes we I were oft off the air all and were being befog greeted by our out new family Out ot of o nine living children five dve and three laws in and three grand grandchildren children were there After Atter visiting visit visit- ing a while we got in our cars tars and went out to Redondo Beach where my mother lives Wt We really enjoyed our visit with our out new family Next day we went to the beach four cur blocks away and had a glorious time It was really nice weather no coats needed so of ot course we had to test the water and pick up a few lew choice shells to bring home On our way home we spent one night in Las Vegas and next day we drove over to the Hoover Dam and took movie pic pic- tures We came home Saturday I and it was a thrill to be at home and see ourselves on I on Feb 2 2 |
