Show c From Victor Peterson J l N F Wednesday of ot this thle week the following following fol tot lowing towing letter was wai was received by Mr and Mrs I Peterson eterson from their son lOll Victor Victor la Js the brother of I Frank Peterson who was as killed in service over In France orance the fret first of the week June 1918 Dear fear Just Folks Folks Just to let you ou w wI I am back in America again after making a record trip to France and return We were fourteen days and abd fourteen four tour teen hours bour making the round roundtrip trip 1 spent pent the Fourth In a title town lown called Woodridge New Jersey Jeney I t have a war home out here at present present pres pres- ent We saw no submarines this trip Nevertheless we saw visions vision of ot a salt water bath When out In the middle of the Atlantic ocean about in the afternoon a general alarm was sou sounded ded The convoy Immediately Immediately Immediately Im Im- Im- Im mediately opened fire Are at what we supposed was a submarine When the alarm sounded we all hit the t top p side and ran to our battle stations When I 1 got to the top topside topside topside side we opened fire tire I 1 saw the shell hit the water and close to where it If hit was what looked like Uke a periscope periscope peri per scope of a submarine It was about two miles dead ahead After firing some fifty shots we came close see the object we were shooting at was a buoy that marks the entrance to a harbor which had broken loose and was floating across tl ocean ocean We Ve had a goot good laugh over our adventure adventure ad ful venture We only remained in France rance twenty six hours hourI so I Idid did not have iny my feet on land for tor fifteen days Talk about hot It is simply fierce I am ant so hot right now I I Ican 1 can scarcely write Will VIII hear from Cram me again soon With lore lo to all I VICTOR VICTon I |
