Show t I i I I I II I i I l i Work Contemplated On Recreation Park The first regular council meeting of ot the tho month was vas held on August Everyone was In attendance at this meeting with the exception of Councilman Council Council- Councilman Councilman man Jones who had been previously ex ex- ex A delegation from the Lions club I consisting of Chas Himes Joe Joo Martinez Bill OKeefe Clarence Johnson John John- Johnson son also met with the council Tho The minutes from the meeting July were read and upon hearing no corrections or additions they were ap ap- apt proved The reports from the various departments were presented to the coun coun- council council cil and they were approved The Lions club met with the council to report on the plans they have been working on to start work on the recreation recreation recreation tion grounds at the city ball park The plans are In line Une with the ones drawn up In 1946 on the tho proposed swimming pool recreation grounds extension of the water system and the sewer system Tho The election on the project was de defeated de- de defeated but the plans are arc completed andare and andare andare are at the City hall in the recorders recorder's office and can be completed whenever it is feasible It is the opinion of the Lions club that help can bo obtained I from the government on Federal Work Projects on a portion of ot the expense I If It the plans could materialize it would do much In Improving the city by bringing in more business and the ex extension ex- ex ext extension I tension t and improvement of ot the water and sewer system would go a a. long ways J i in starting the proposed housing pro project project The mayor and city council assured the gentlemen that they were In back backof of the plans per cent and letters will be sent by them to Mr Jesson director of the Federal Planning Board requesting that we be given considers considers- consideration tion when and If Il work projects are aro started by the government It has been very noticeable the past few weeks that considerable painting and repairing of ot buildings has been done by outside labor As we all know there are aro approximately men mn m n Idle in the city due to the mine shut down and andIn andIn andin In all fairness this work should be given to men who own their homes and pay taxes In our city The Miners Union Local 99 99 should be contacted whenever labor Is needed for any kind of work and local labor can be obtained Permission was granted the United States Post Office department to block the sidewalk during the time construction construction construction tion work is being done to replace the theold theold theold old sidewalk Permission was granted Mr Gordon to place a runway over the sidewalk valk and gutter in front of his I property on Park avenue The city is to purchase the following follow follow- following following ing lots on Main street from the county 6 6 7 7 8 8 9 10 and 11 11 In block 21 21 The lots are aro to be cleaned up In the near future and will be used as as public i grounds for parking area play grounds i i and whatever seems feasible by the I council I I Work is to be started within the I next week or so on weed control Mayor i DeJonghe is fa making arrangements for tor forthe the Ithe hiring of the county sprayer This I work will be done on the city streets and If 1 any individuals are Interested in inI I 1 having their lots sprayed at this time they should contact the mayor or the recorder at the City hall for details I The County Agent was in Park City in July and sprayed the city dump arid and other needed areas with th DDT for flies fUes If I the citizens will cooperate by spraying their garbage cans much can be done I to alleviate the fly hazard and nuisance Materials have been ordered to re- re rei rewire i wire the White Way on Main street An AnI I overhead wiring system will be put in into into into to replace the underground system now I being used The work will be done in inthe inthe the near future I Tho The following bills were approved bythe by bythe bythe the council and warrants are to be be drawn on the treasury to pay the same same- Thompsons Thompson's Food Albert B B.
