letter from me mo will perhaps como come as somewhat the tho nature of ot a surprise Inasmuch as I have many friends In Park City and Summit county and it has been through the tho work and as- as asI I I that I 1 had with many of or them S In tho the Boy Doy Scout organization that I 1 have been appointed to an executive position with that organization tion I feel that a few lines to you will serve servo as a 1 thank you note to aU all of ot them I j I S As Indicated by the tho letterhead I am associated with the tho Cache Valley Council i Boy Scouts of America as Field Scout Executive A recent reorganization in Inthis S this area created an opening for a new newman I I man and I 1 was lucky enough to have been selected My Scouting experience I in Park City was the factor 01 OL my selection for this position It all came as quite a surprise to me I have often times thought of entering the field but have havo never ne felt feit qualified for tor such a a. position When this offer came to me mo it was difficult to decide whether or not to uproot my again and start out on another field of endeavor However the desire desiro to become a part of a great organization tion in which I have much Interest was too great and here we are I am starting my official duties by Conducting nd the annual summer camp of this council at Camp Hunt on Bear lake I am going into the area this week with the camp staff to get things In readiness Due to the housing short short- shortage ago age here as ad elsewhere Alice Allee and the kiddies are going to camp with me for forone forone forone one week and will then perhaps visit with Alices Alice's mother in ParK Par City for a a. week or two until we are able to get into a suitable house here in Logan Following the camp season I will go to New Jersey Jerse for attendance at the Na Na- National National National Training school If I successfully I complete the training course I will be- be a commissioned executive on the tho professional staff st ff of ot the Boy B y Scouts of ot ofA I America A r Lee I would appreciate it if it you can find space In some issue I ue of ot your paper and if I have given you enough information Information I mation above to Inform my many friends and associates of the good thing that has happened to me as a result of the good job those people did while work- work workIng workIng working Ing for such an honor It Is something of a record for forme forme forme me to be appointed to the professional staff because I do not have the mini mini- minimum minimum minimum mum educational requirements which are standard with the organization It Itis ItIs Itis is only the fact that I have had many years ears experience and the fact that the records of the Scout troops in the area in place and how to to S cook a a. simple but nourishing meal with j i ia I Ia a minimum of equipment the simple I skills the game of Scouting uses use to toS teach good citizenship and to build S character are appreciated by the boys who are doing such a good job for tor fort America today I am leaving war service service t I work to enter this s new field because I feel reel that I can do an even bigger job i for tho future of America by helping In acme seme small way to build character and andS S to train for good citizenship a greater 1 number of boys of today who will be betho bethe bethe the tho men of ot America tomorrow Perhaps in my feeble way I 1 can recruit more good men to serve erve and see as I do that tho the future of the tho world lies not in men but in the men of tomorrow the boys of today America Ameri and the world owes much to the boys who have had the I courage to meet the challenge of the times It is s a debt that cannot be met with money but must be paid
