J Montgomery who had a n astore r bv by and living rooms on tho corner cornei where store the Kimball garage now stands I believe e Montgomery was the first postmaster post post- postmaster postmaster master of Park City but am not sure I The lot extended cast to the land later latex occupied by the Union Pacific railroad My father Judge George O. O Snyder holdings In lx bought the Montgomery the store room into 1876 and revamped additional living rooms which were occupied oc oc- by Mrs Rhoda Snyder and family for several years ears The Dexter Stables were built by my father in 1880 and used as a livery and stage station as well MIl as for the housing of or ore and coal transportation teams Mr H H. W. W Willard well knOwn in those man man- assistant days was Vias foreman and ager The livery business was later taken over o by my brother Willard F. F Snyder and Edward P. P Evans who were suc suc- succeeded succeeded succeeded by Frank R. R and Louis A. A Snyder Snyder der del who in turn sold the entire prop prop- property property erty city to Robert T. T and Lawrence Kim Kim- Kimball ball R R. T. T assuming the active man man- management management management about 1886 1 So far as I know Mr Wm H. H Kimball never owned any property in Park City but hut had extensive ranch lands hotel and camp grounds at the Kimball Overland Stage Station about six miles north of ot Park City He also operated a stage line using the old style Concord coaches be between be- be between between tween Salt Lake and Park City making his bis Park City headquarters at my fathers place James Pearce also operated the Concord style of coach at that time the stages leaving on alternate days Pearce erected a barn on Main street nearly opposIte op- op the present City Hall where he kept his hs stock This barn was later used as a livery by b Alex Smith and still later by Jerry Comelier The Kimball Brothers R. R T.
