W Baxter Dies At the Miners Hospital this city Sunday morning February John Weir Baxter a II well known and prominent ent citizen of this community for the past twenty-six twenty years died after steadily falling failing health for tor four years past He was a long sufferer with rheumatism and complications Mr Baxter was born In Glasgow Scotland on December ID 10 19 1884 He came cameto cameto cameto to Park City In 1913 and with the exception ex exception ex- ex exception of four years efficient Ice sen-Ice overseas In the World war war he continuously continuously continuously made his home In this community Besides his widow Mrs Mildred Power Baxter and two sons sans Donald Don We and John Keith of this city cit deceased Is s survived by his aged mother Mrs Christina Weir Baxter Daxter two brothers David and William Baxter three sisters Mrs John Murray and Mrs Belle Mc Mc- McCartney McCartney McCartney Cartney all of Glasgow Scotland and Mrs William Barry of London England Deceased came to America In 1913 locating loca Ing In this city working In the mines and mills until November 24 24 1915 when he enlisted In the Canadian Expeditionary Ex Ex- Forces and was In active service In France with the Batta- Batta Battalion Battalion lion lon for four years During this service ho he was promoted to sargeant receiving two distinguished service medals one medals one for four years active service on tho the field of battle and one for heroic valor Returning to Park City In 1917 he secured a lease on a section of the Daly I Judge property which he worked until 1921 when he was engaged as clerk In Judge store and later served as manager until the store was closed In 1932 For five lve years following he worked as tim tUn- berman at the Alliance property Always an active member of the local Miners Union deceased In July last year was elected treasurer secretary-treasurer of Local 99 which position he held when stricken with which resulted In his death I Mr Baxter was a useful citizen In Inthis Inthis inthis this community dependable and friend friend- friendly ly a good husband and devoted father He was married In this city In 1927 to Miss Mildred Powers of Val Verda Utah former Instructor In our public schools To the bereaved widow and family the aged mother and relatives sympathy is extended In their bereavement Funeral services were conducted In Inthe inthe the Community Church Tuesday after after- afternoon afternoon afternoon I noon Rev E.
