R R. R Fletcher chairman of the Agriculture Committee of the Ki KI- Kiwanis KIwanis Ki- Ki Kiwanis wanis Club Mr Fletcher Fietcher arranged for Mr David F F. Smith Commissioner Comm arranged of Agriculture of the State of Utah to address oddress the club For many years Mr l Smith has been associated with the Growers Market com com- company compan company pany pan of Salt Lake City This market was organized as a n result of ot Salt Lake ke City withdrawing the privilege of marketing produce on the streets in 1910 Today the market furnishes an outlet for farm produce In Salt Lake City Mr Smith spoke eloquently from his wealth of ex experience ex- ex experience as a farmer and his association with farm problems in the State of Utah The American Amerlan Public Land policy is the poorest of all nations said Mr Smith Our land losses duo due to erosion and washing of ot top soil are greater than all nIl property losses In the World war Mr Smith stated that the first problem cf of the farmer In Utah Is the destruction and elimination of ot noxious weeds Noxious Noxious Noxious ous weeds threaten the destruction of ot all Irrigated land Mr Smith outlined the setup of the various farm organizations In the United States and spoke briefly on National Farm Grains National Farm Union and National Farm Bureau Fed Fed- Federation He also discussed the A. A He said it was the farmers farmer's Idea of farm improvement He summarized the Ideals of the farmers farmer's program as 1 higher wages 2 parity of ot prices 3 avoid avoid- avoidance avoidance avoidance ance of debt 4 lowering of taxes 5 honest money mone and 6 equal Ity The meeting was attended by twenty members of the Park City Kiwanis Club and three guests The guests in addition to Mr Smith were Everett erett J. J Dahl Dahi and W. W W. W Snyder r of Snyderville C. C O.
