considerably puzzled as to what it was all about would be drawing it mild and are not a bit pleased over the result and such Is politics and peculiar are the ways of some politicians it looks very certain that the entire delegations is composed of members of the miners union and strong sympathizers therewith and all are happy because of the first political victory 0 0 4 two prominent local democrats have announced their candidacy tor for the office of sheriff the past week their announcements I 1 I 1 will be found in another columna column of this issue 40 4 41 I 1 the first to make the announce announcement men t was mr J R springer a prominent member and trustee of the local miners I 1 I 1 union and a longtime long time and esteemed citizen of this community he Is 15 a miner by occupation and as tar far back as 1900 he was an employed of the daly west and has worked in the ontario and several other mines of our city he Is at present employed at the silver king coalition he asks the support of the democrats of the county and promises faithful service it if elected tho the other aspirant tor for this same game 0 office ce Is the present incumbent ephraim adamson this gentleman needs no introduction tro as he be Is well and favorably known throughout the county for tour four years he has hag served in the capacity of sheriff and the gentleman Is asking for nomination re on his record while 1 ing in that capacity he solicits the support I 1 at the coming county convention 1 a 0 40 41 I 1 the democratic primary which was held last saturday night in the athen leum hall provided an abundance of ui arises both in the great number that attended and the results which w made many changes in the usual democratic delegations from park city says county chairman J C green an assemblage of over one hundred voted and many others made no attempt to enter and take fake part in the crowded room the pro ering of a list which recommended the choice of delegates delegate 3 rather than by nominating ina ting was a new innovation Inov atlon never used by former primaries there were only a few concerned la in this misguided action which was made in the interest of a summit county representative for the senatorial convention in their over enthusiasm thusia sm te support a citizen of summit county against the choices offered by the other five counties they wanted to be sure of summit county loyalty it if their selections were not properly balanced between new and old members it was not intended as an of fence as there was no divergence of opinion with in the party on this issue it will probably be the last democratic primary that will ever be held in park city as the next legislature will enact a direct primary which will eliminate the convention form conventions are arc interesting 1 and educational but very difficult to control and handle and very much dissatisfaction I 1 generally results as every one I 1 cannot be given a nomination who may be seeking political favors 0 41 1 at a meeting in War iship last night tho the a young republicans club of summit county was organized organised organ sed ived the officers elected
