logical and convincing and undoubtedly will aid materially I 1 in the future recognition of silver the salt lake tribune in commending on the letter of senator thomas says in part former senator charles S thomas of colorado a deep student of currency and money problems makes an unequivocal plea tor for the restoration ot of silver money in a letter to president elect franklin D roosevelt he declares that in no other maycan way can the world avoid or escape heavy inflation of currency and the attending evils mt mr thomas urges a return to the double standard and takes issue with those who regard the use ot of silver as money as an inflationary measure As a matter of fact mr thomas adopts the opposite conclusion which Is to the effect that the only control against inflation Is a subsidiary metal in the money base to support credits which long since have outgrown the capacity ot of the unaided gold standard here in the west the vital necessity of silver money has long been
