I 1 we are of the opinion first that the democratic presidential ticket Roos roosevelt ovelt and garner named at chicago last friday night Is a strong combination one ona that will grow in force and popularity I 1 as the weeks roll by and that despite tho the administrations unceasing efforts from now on to stop roosevelt the damoci atio national ticket will ride to victory on the esth of next november oh yes we are still republican but like many thousands of other western re j publicans public ans we have had our nil fill of the hoover mellon mills gold cold bug combination and think they should be gi given v en a breathing spell for four years and let representatives of us poor common trash try their hand at the bat for that period Q 0 40 it was a master stroke of roosevelt I 1 when he flew from albany to chicago to accept the nomination for the I 1 i presidency given him byan by an overwhelming vote of the democratic convention and his speech of acceptance was a winner and approved and applauded by millions in all parts of the country it if you failed to hear it over the radio or to read it in the newspapers hunt up a copy of the speech and you will applaud it also it was as simply a straight from the talk teeming in sound round logic and common sense 0 ap president hoover Is not supposed to know that he was nominated by the republicans public ans and will not be so informed until some weeks to come what tommy rot it Is for intelligent beings to be bound by senseless traditions it Is quite probable the day after election hoover H 00 ver will be sorry that he was ever officially notified of his nomination aw 41 ap governor dern darn the much absentee executive of this state gracefully withdrew his name for the nomination of vice pre aident when ho he found the cards were stacked against him and his chances even less than a snowball snow ball in hades for that exalted position lie he was given the opportunity port unity of seconding the nomination of the popular and brainy texan john N garner who was made the running mate of governor roosevelt by acclamation gamer will quite likely ate step p from the of the house to the presiding officer of the straight out and out repeal plank of the democratic platform however they will not get very tar far with their protests tor for a vast majority of the voters of the nation are determined to end the admirers by his lack of true sportsman 1 ship in sulking and sneaking away after being badly defeated in the race for the presidential nomination however it Is iii promised he will vote the democratic
