operations yearly it Js Is usually u il at or following such season that they set up their policies for the new year determine the goal survey the past and estimate the future it Is the dividend season it Is the season when the stockholders it if the business Is on a yearly dividend basis receive their financial returns the school year Is on a yearly dividend basis the commencement season represents the closing season the school executives present yearly the graduating classes in increasing numbers as dividends to the taxpaying tax paying community they show that the school business Is attracting tr young men as well as young 1 women as evidenced by the fact that the graduating classes are better balanced as between the sexes they are in a position to show the holding power of the tha schools on all classes and types of children by the increase lari in numbers umbers now graduating an increase out of all proportion to the population growth ot of the city it Is now a class of twenty where formerly it was ten a class of one hundred where formerly forty we see in the personnel of the graduating class a more serious a more alert and more developed group we find in I 1 these classes the evidence 0 of I 1 I 1 the much talked of equality of appo opportunity uril Y as every graduating class will have representation sent sen tation atlon from every calling and every station in life I 1 this Is the season of the year when a close scrutiny Is made of 0 the working a force of the school pupil failures are 1 and causes determined where aitho tho fault lies within the school or organization g ant provision Is made tor for its remedy I 1 when outside the schools it receives equal attention departments are analyzed I 1 as to the number of pupils served I 1 and the consequent lose those not adequately functioning are eliminated there Is stock taking by the teaching supervisory and executive force this Is f in the nature of individual self inslee tion many of these determine that it Is 15 a time tor for a testing of their teaching methods an opportunity to gain new vision and renewed inspiration to that end on the credit the next years salary many a teacher will be take herself to a summer school that she may better serve the tha community while the school buildings are being repaired and renovated while the children tire are enjoying a summer of play and recreation the school executive Is organizing gan izing for the new school year he is establishing his standards and organizing for a greater teaching effort but the most impressive and reassuring situation in the interest of the public Is the very large percentage of superintendents supervisors per visors and teachers who will spend their vacations in summer sessions or teachers institutes an evidence that they are taking stock and that they are their own most exacting manager and director direct ot 0 goodbe good be seniors to me has ha fallen the pleasant duty of speaking of
