Show why chas moore Is driving two tunnels mr S L park city utah dear mr me I 1 am enclosing under separate cover a little news relative to star of utah and mayflower this harangue Is as long as an old maids dream but it covers a lot ot of points that I 1 have been wanting to cover for the past two years about the only crI criticisms tImms I 1 have ever heard from real mining men whose opinion Is worth a fig have been to the general effect that we were driving two big tunnels one on the mayflower and one on the star of utah in a blind search for ore and that it would have been much better to have spent about one fourth or one fifth of the money we are spending in trying to find out whether there Is anything in the mayflower ground or anything in the star of utah ground to justify the expenditure of several hundred thousand thon sand dollars in driving big dra drainage Mage development and tunnels this sounds very fine and it would be very sensible indeed it if it were not for falie ie fact that the very work that these critics say should have been done in mayflower ground and star of utah ground has already been done in years gone bv somo some of it was done in 1869 and 1870 and 1871 and on up through the and and some of it we was s done 20 and 25 and 30 years ago end and some of it V BS done four and five years ago some of the he best posted mining men in the state of utah are thoroughly ignorant of the tha discoveries that have been made in mayflower and star of utah ground in the past they seem to think wo we are doing exactly like some come other exploration companies are doing that I 1 Is they seem to think we are merely working on geology and taking something of a blind shot I 1 I 1 we are doing exactly what geo D 1 bood blood did when he decided to explore the hawkeye mchenry he decided that enough work had been done already in early days on the hawkeye mchenry ground to justify deep exploration work and while he be drive a tunnel or feet he would have been compelled to drive a tunnel or feet it if it had not been for the fact that the ontario drain tunnel was already driven and he secured the use of the ontario drain tunnel and went into the ontario drain tunnel several thousand feet from the portal of this tunnel and started to work or started to explore the country for the big corfi commercial mercial ore bodies which he felt sure could be found 1 with a little intelligent prospecting the great park utah mine was the result I 1 there really any excuse for the ignorance prevailing among some of the leading men of utah fal m t to anat tt what has already been done or just what has already been discovered in mayflower ground and star of utah ground during the past seF several veral years and during the years from 1869 up lip to the present time there certainly have never been any better surface showings and there certainly have never been any better showings of ore for the amount of work done in all the history of park city than are to be found and that have been found on star of utah ground and mayflower ground the chances for finding big and permanent ore bodies in mayflower ground and star of utah ground are about as good as anything could possibly be |
