discussed after a discussion by the council of the somewhat alarming question of water shortage tor for our city the motion of councilmen simmons and lindsay was carried which authorizes the building of a weir at the intake of the water sup supply P ly that hat an actual measure be taken of the water and that a a thorough investigation of the water shortage be made the matter at nand was then referred to the fire and water committee together with councilman gibbons full authority was given this committee to take whatever steps ste PI S it deemed advisable freight and express truck not needed city recorder mrs workman read a communication from the utah public utilities commission advising the c counell council that roy boy N dundas and J at goethe had applied to the commission tor for a permit to operate a freight and express motor truck between salt lake end and park city after consideration of the matter I 1 councilman hoover and gibbons moved that the commission be advised that the union pacific and rio grande railroads were giving satisfactory and adequate service and urging the proposed franchise be refused rive rire siren to be given trial chairman gibbons of the city property committee made a verbal report to the effect that the committee met and discussed fro s ed the moving of the compressor from in its present place to the basement of the city hall tor for the purpose of making room for the new emergency fire truck A suggestion was offered that a fire fira siren be purchased by the city and the compressor done away with the matur matter was discussed pro and con and a decision reached tor for the city to avail itself of the sixty day tree free trial of the champion siren as offered by the W 5 darley company the city recorder was instructed to inform the company at once of the decision reached new to be built the committee on streets alleys and bridges recommended to the council that a wooden bridge be built along the 1100 block on woodside avenue that 9 new section of steps be placed above the viaduct and that park avenue be graveled above the new road these recommendations ada were adopted by the council and the street supervisor instructed to commence the work at once cleanup days named the week commencing may ath was designated as clean up week by the council and a notice to this effect ordered published in the park record motorcycle requested marshal st jeor called attention ot of the council to the ever increasing danger of speeding on our public thoroughfares and the growing need of the city owning a motorcycle tor for the purpose of overtaking and arresting this class of offenders after discussion the matter was referred to the city property committee with power to make such buch put purchase if deemed advisable I 1 to remove uns unsightly glibly bandstand the unsightliness and danger of the wreck of the old main street band stand was discussed by the council the sentiment was that it be condemned and removed I 1 and marshal st jeor instructed to get in touch with mr henry spriggs who it will be remembered built the stand and donated same game to the city years ago and secure his consent to the removal of the present eyesore |
