Show A lady comments on cement walks editor E di t kotord t ord I 1 desire to publicly voice fedi the sentiments of 0 the re be col coid d a as editorially t expressed in ia your last issue regarding the unsightly and dangerous unpaired in paired stretches of cement walk on park avenue while I 1 am not noc a property owner on sald said avenue nor do I 1 live thereon 1 I with hundreds ot of others travel the avenue in going to and from church and for or various other reasons As I 1 have passed over the had bad places in tile the cement walk in winter when the tear fear is ever present that a severe fall all is coming and in summer when care is necessary in going over the slanting uneven walks and the unsightliness a disgrace to the municipality I 1 have wondered why the badly needed repair work was so long delayed why our taxes were spent in building and rebuilding plank walks in comparatively out ot of the way streets and that tile the cement walks on the most traveled the thoroughfares ough fares 0 of the city are allowed to go to rack and ruin become bange dangerous r to pedestrians in places jeopardizing ard izing and damaging and a continual eyesore and disgrace to all who have any sense ot of civic pride simply because or of the stubbornness born ness and apparent indifference of the city council it Is nothing less than a shame that despite the request of 0 property owning citizens the constant urging of the home paper that persistent procrastination is 19 studied and manifested hy by not only the present city council but previous ones in spending public funds for public improvements rits the only reason I 1 can assign tor for this willful neglect is that neither the street commissioner nor any at 0 the city fathers travel park avenue and in consequence thereof a allow the feeling of dont give a cantin continental tin tor for the other fellow to warp their best judgment it is a public improvement that should be attended to the walks should be repaired and the flumes blumes because ot of the impaired walks stopped from catching the filth that finds its it s way lato into the flumes blumes and making it extremely unsanitary in places I 1 commend the efforts of the record in its advocacy ot of necessary public ile improvements and civic pride as well as its efforts extorts tor for the general welfare of park city and wish it every success very sincerely MRS AIRS E V M park city utah june 27 1921 i |
