duchesne Du chesno to represent summit county in an effort to perfect a state organization an and secure favorably tor for summit county a favo favorable routing ot of the highway west of the utah colorado line the delegation consisted of W D sutton robert dalgleish F J me mc caughlin and W D richardson accompanying compa nying the delegates wore mrs robt dalgleish leiah mrs mra W V D sutton button airs mrs W D richardson and the kiddies ther the party stopped tor for lunch at currant creek and thoroughly enjoyed the outing the roads were in very good condition tor for this time ot of the year and the recent high waters along the route it would have been I 1 of 01 considerable advantage to summit county if some of our commissioners had been along because it Is a certainty that we would have profited by the lessons caught us in road making wasatch county Is to be ba especially complimented upon the manner in which it Is taking care of its roads i s daniels canyon has hag been and Is still being well taken care of there being fully one hundred men ing in different places i along the road the whole county seems to be ba good roads mad and the result is 13 that the people of the whole state are being benefited by the efforts of the county commissioners it Is sate safe to say that roads of summit county over which the party passed were the worst along the route upon the arrival of the party at duchesne tile the citizens of that live little lithe town made things as pleasant as possible for our entertainment our old townsman paul billings was wag on the lob job and as live as ever laird dean Is happy and contented contente d with his new enterprise and la is full of boost tor for duchesse Duc hense the commercial club ot of which mr dean Is the president thas has a cozy little club room for or its members and the whole town is back of 0 the club and boosting for or the betterment of 0 the whole reservation the interests ot of the people are all the same and there Is complete harmony in the workings ot of the organization the convention was called to order by R M pope and a temporary organization was waa formed with mr R at pope BS as chairman and robert dalgleish as secretary the president of the commercial club made a short address ot of welcome and the convention proc proceeded ded to business A utah branch of 0 the pikes peak ocean to ocean highway association was formed with the fal following lowing officers it M pope ot of Duch ducheane esue president jas clyde of heber alce dent W it anderson ot of vernal 2nd and vice president robert dalgliesh of park city secretary and treasurer W D sutton of park city hugh W harvey of 0 heber national directors A constitution was adopted and the organization perfected one of the most important happenings at the convention was waa the selection ot of the state route for the highway upon the recommendation of a special I 1 committee which had been appointed for that thai purpose the following route was adopted beginning at the utah colorado line at or near the K ranch the llna line to run through jensen vernal roosevelt myton duchesse Duch Duc hense ensa fruit land heber city park city salt lake city farmington Farni ington layton ogdon ogden brigham park valley and lucia thence west to the utah nevada line this route will show to the tourist the best of the state and it Is expect ed that the Pike sPeak highway will eventually see more tourist travel than any other route across the continent and that it wil soon truly be the applan way ot of america after the se lecton acton ot of tiie tae next meeting place which was decided in ill favor of heber city the adjourned J blue bench which Is the delegates were taken over the blue bench which te la one bf b the most fertile spots on the reservation and it was there that the beauty A anajo wealth ol of the country was shown aag our old townsman oliver Lockhart khai made it his special business to see that the park city delegation saw all i that was to be seen and lt it was waa indeed fay a pleasure to be with him friend oliver has a very good place bad and it shows very clearly how hard he must have worked to create such a flue fine farm from what had apparently been a desert his stock wis was a revelation to the whole party ana and one member very correctly said said thit that he ha had never seen such fine horses outside of od a state tair fair or a horse thew show the delegation feels that the convention made a wonderful stride towards the establishment of better roads in utah and it is to be hoped that the good work will continue until the strangers and the tourists who annually cross our section of the country will always remember that good roads are to be found here and that such roads will
