Show A MIN 1 ise in utah U d metals metal following are a few extracts from reports irom from 11 S geological surrey no reports ports mines la in utah produced gold silver copper lead and zinc nine in 1915 amounting in value to as estimated by V C helges ot of the united states geological survey this represents an increase over tho the production in 1914 of 0 nearly BO 60 per cent or there was a considerable increase in all 11 the metals about one fourth more ore was mined increasing the total from tons in 1914 to about tons in 1915 about tons were produced at bingham an increase from tons in 1914 the bulk ot of this ore was mined at the utah and ohio copper properties which yielded about tons of low grade ore in 1915 other 1 mines that contributed largo large quantities of 0 ore were the utah consoli dated utah apex united states bingham bangham bingham new haven and utah metal mines the tintic gintic district produced about tons tonsa I 1 against tons in 1914 in the park city region about tons of crude ore and concentrates cen were shipped against again t tons in 1914 improvements in concentration methods resulted in large shipments of lead and zinc concentrate from the daly judge daly west and sliver silver king coalition mills two large concentration mills were built for treating tailings on the flats data below park city flotation was adopted at several mills in the region the prospect Is that all the mills will be similarly equipped in 1916 in beaver county the ore shipments including a considerable quantity ot of old slag amounted to about tons against shipments of tons in 1914 principally from the horn silver and majestic mines in tofele tooele county production principally from S I 1 ophir increased from at ia tons in n 1915 tle tep T ep balls disi or of I ore hauled from the cottonwood districts to tile the smelters shelters sm elters in 1915 the I 1 largest producer was the cardiff mine which yields rich lead slivery silver ore important shipments of silver j ore were made from the south hecla and the michigan utah pro properties pertle s zinc ore was shipped from the carbonate mine the mine output ot of gold iner increased eased over 19 per cent from rom in n 1914 to in 1915 copper ores yielded the larger part of the gold but large quantities also came from lead ore and siliceous ore A comparatively small j ty of copper ore was produced in gold eold end and silver mills the copper output from utah mines increased from 2 pounds in 1914 to about 1 l pounds la in 1915 the increase amounting to more than 20 per cent in quantity tn and about in value the gain was made mostly by the utah copper mine at bingham which Is credited with an in erase crase of pounds over the output of 1914 the mine production ot of lead increased from pounds in 1914 to pounds in 1915 or about 28 per cent mostly from the bingham district where the utah apex utah consolidated united sates and bingham new haven were the largest producers in park city the silver king coalition daly west daly judge and silver king consolidated added to the total output in the cottonwoods Cotton woods the mines produced over pounds pound of lead a large part ot of it earning coming from the cardiff property with the advance in prices zinc jore ire was offered from many sources the mine production ot of zinc ceover able as spotter spelter segregated aggregated pounds valued at about 3 this la Is an increase of about 41 per cent in quantity over I 1 the output ot of 1914 amounting to pounds the largest shipments of 0 zinc concen concentrates were made from the midvale mill ot of the united states mining company atch treated some custom ore besides that handled frond its Is own property at bingham the daly judge mine at park city was the next i largest producer of concentrates followed by the daly west and the mills dills recovering zinc from the old tailings lodged on the flat below park city promontory district in box elder county became prominent in zinc production from the lake view nine mine which his Is er credited with p pounds u of zinc figured as recoverable spelter new zinc deposits were also opened near hyrum in cache county and woodside in emery county each district producing several cars of 0 crude zinc ore altogether there were 38 39 producers of zinc ore in utah in 1916 all the smelling smelting sm elting establishments were operating at lull full capacity soon atter after the first of the year these were ape the murray midvale international ter and garfield plants dividends amounting to about were distributed by utah mining companies in 1915 as against in 1914 |
