Show A fatal accident sunday afternoon while at work in the alliance tunnel herman dick alck erson met his death by a high tension wire striking him he was waa not killed instantly and was haste edthe miners hospital whore where everything possible was done tor for him but the shock was too great and after several hours of intense suffering lie he succumbed to his injuries the accident occurred while workmen were engaged in removing a dangerous slab of 0 rock from the root roof on a section of the tunnel it was being removed in as small portions as possible so as not to prevent traffic through the tunnel while mr 1 dickerson and others from the tunnel i blacksmith shop were watching the work ot of removing the rock an I 1 extra large portion gave way andin falling came in contact with aurdick erson and while causing his death left no marks of 0 burning the wire carried volts the unfortunate victim was a resident of san francisco I 1 and had been in the park but a short time he was 37 years of age I 1 and leaves a widow and two children to mourn his untimely death I 1 he was a member of the fraternity eternity tern ity and also of the modern woodmen goodmen of america carrying 2000 insurance in the latter the remains I 1 were sh shipped dipped to sa san 11 fran francisco zt isco tuesday morning tor for burial buria 1 notwithstanding the very evident circumstances cum stances of mr Dicker sons death a coroners inquest was held thursday afternoon and in the absence of the county attorney or any other the proceedings verged berged very close on the farcical and the only result accomplished was the unnecessary expenditure of county funds W D lewis J G johnston Jo huston and pat heenan w were ro the jurors and the verdict returned was that deceased came to his death through injuries received while at work in the alliance tunnel the jurors further found that the said injuries were caused through no neglect of any person or company |
