Show DOGS IN THE CEMETERY do more harm in a minute than a dozen kids would do all day sexton gidley says a thing or two editor Rec record please give me space apace in your next nest issue to answer the piece in last weeks record in regard to the depredations done in the cemeteries caration ration oo co day the loose flow ers ars and fern leaves thrown loose on the graves were blown about by the wind and not by any kids or any one else its as 1 I had both cemeteries watched close all day until 8 0 clock that night and did not leave city cemetery there was not a kid around There were six or eight people in tile the cemetery when I 1 left and went around to glenwood mr air whitely his wife and myself were ahe last to come out of glen wood at half past eight friday morning when I 1 went to tho thic cemetery the flowers that were loose were blown all over I 1 picked them up and replaced them as near as I 1 could tile the flowers in bottles were all blown over with tile the exception of those that were fastened to the monuments in regard to the little tombstone it isi is isia aa a little thing with a small smal lamb labib on the top the stone is loose on the base sonic some one put their hand on it and it being loose they thought it was going to fall fail and made a grab forit for it and caught hold of the little ear ron on th elamb and broke a quarter of an inch off the end it is very frail and will crumble cn up like a piece of salt I 1 think it was purely an accident andt inot done with any intention to damage the stone there was iwas not a flower or arany any other thing taken from either cemetery with but onel one exception friday evening at about five as I 1 was going from the city cemetery to glenwood il I 1 saw two children coming out of glenwood with flowers in their hands unasked In Iii asked them where they got them they fhaid aid in the cemetery J 1 I made ahem them go back and put the flowers where they took them from that was the only instance of anything being touched some people bring their dogs 10 to the cemetery these dogs do more harm in five minutes than a half dozen kids would do all clay da and in the future dogs must be kept out of the cenie ct et eries as I 1 have put out poison for the field mice and squirrels dolif if they value their dogs they will keep them home W A GIDLEY city sextal sexton park city utah june 4 1912 |
