chow an entirely now new idea tor for a desk it lins has no legs but la Is made to stand upon a table the front drops down to write upon lust just like a drop leaf of any desk when the front Is closed and hooked the desk Is in a compact form a and nd it may be lifted from the table by means of the handle attached to the top and stood in some out of the way corner until wanted tor for uso use again A A grocery box together with its cover or some additional box boards is needed tor for working material after ren recalling alling any boards that may bo be loose cut the board A of a length equal to the inside length of tho the box and of a width equal to tho the inside depth of the box fig 4 and the piece B D of 0 equal width and 2 inches high fasten piece B D across the center of board A with nails driven through A into the edge of 13 then fasten tho the nailed together pieces in THE PORTABLE WRITING DESK CLOSED I 1 tho the upper part of the box as shown in an fig 3 to form pigeonholes pigeon holes nall nail through the ends odthe of abo box into the ends of board A and down through the top into the edge of board B D to hold the pieces in place strip C fig 5 forms forma tho the and 7 they can be cut right out of this page only one arm and one leg la Is shown however and you will have to uso use these parts acif aa patterns for or marking out the second arm and leg paste the paper parta lupon lightweight cardboard to give them stiffness to fasten the parts together pierce holes through them with a 14 I 1 4 pencil point or a hatpin hat bat pin at the points A B D and 0 figs 4 15 6 and 7 and join the correspondingly lettered holes with thread tying a knot on each end of each thread enough larger than the holes to keep the parts from slip ping oft off figure 2 shows the doll assembled complete the circular piece with the con center ter cut out of it shown in mg fig 3 fits down over the dolls dollo body resting upon its hips a aa 11 shown in fig 2 it Is cut inches wide and 25 inches long pleat leat or gather it and sew it around the dolls waist for a skirt skirl then make a waist out of the same material and sew it in place cut a pretty head bead of the right size from a magazine and paste it to the dolls head when the doll la Is finished place her on n t piece of cardboard with the end of the cardboard extending over the edge of the table tap the
