During the last few years the mineral industry has been going through an mazing period of evolution. From a scientific and executive viewpoint it has mado more real progress than ever before be-fore in its history. It pays good wages to hundreds of thousands of workers, fulfills necessary in-du'rial in-du'rial needs, and plays a major part in adding to the ' nationl prosperity. , . There are plenty of laws on the statute books at the present time to protect the public interest so far as mining is concerned. Mines should pay their full share of taxes bHt to harry a growing,- basic industry in-dustry with unequal tax burdens is certainly not the part of wisdom. wis-dom. , : . , ' '
