Show WITH THE BOWLERS tho the management of the local bowling association yesterday received the following letter relative to the annual bowling tournament t of the western bowling congress ogden is to be represented in the tournament i but the men who will represent this city have not as yet been named seattle wn feb ath circular no 2 to all bowlers with only four weeks intervening before the opening of the first great annual tournament of the western bowling congress it Is proper that I 1 should once more call your attention to the importance of sending in the membership of your your city associations and certifying the c lection election of your delegates and alternates in accordance with article three section two constitution of the western bowling congress also the names prid and address of the president secretary and treasurer of your city association form of credentials and ana application blanks herewith enclosed which plead fill out and return to me at the earliest possible moment remember that it Is very important that abat entries for the tournament should be in early to allow ill the sched ulo committee ample time to arrange for taking care of all the entrants where it Is impossible to get five men teams together for the eon contest test it is important that your city be represented by two men teams or individuals these events will be one of the leading d features aes ues of the big tournament and bowlers cannot well afford to miss them many of the smaller cities where they have only a limited number of bowlers will be represented in this manner the cash prizes in this event as well as the alvo e men and individual will equal if not surpass any prize list dver ever hung up for a bowling bourna ment prior to this time A special the tournament will bo be the ladles ladies contest both clubs and in valuable cash prizes will bo be given for this event in proportion prop orrion to the number of contestants the ladles ladies will not bo be required to pay entrance fees and will compete only in this special event I 1 think I 1 may safely say at this time that the success of the tournament is now assured beyond the question of a doubt the committee having in charge the work of completing arrangements I 1 range ments for the tourney are work ing with tireless energy and to day brings in moro more flat catering ering reports of success when tilo western bowling congress sprang into existence early last spring ng secretary karat of the A B C in III an attempt to belittle the work of tho the promoters said in in an interview in kansas city there is no threatened secession accession out west what tho bowlers out there want is 18 to organize state associations but they dont know how to do about it there is no room in the united states for two national bowling organizations those these utterances ances coming from so high an official as mr air karpf no doubt had bad their effect upon many bowlers whose sympathies were with the now organization but thanks to the tireless energy of those who have the interests of the sport at heart the feeling of timidity I 1 is fast being dispelled and applications for membership are rapidly coming in from every section of the country if the attendance at salt lake is within 75 percent of what is already promised an approximate estimate of the llast prize in each of the events would bo be as follows five men team or two men team or individual or with the prizes ranging proportionately downward in each of the events so that about one third of the participants will receive cash prizes yours for success A L benh JENKINS INS secretary IV B C last nights game there being no regular game scheduled last evening in the commercial league two teams wora 71 made up tip from those present the comers succeeded in taking two out of the three games game s atom the railroaders the individual score follows comers lund 1 6 1 herrick delinger Del 1 47 scudder 16 6 bartlett totals 2431 railroaders miller builer wilson 2124 1 70 watkins 53 camp hess totals |
