Show LA I 1 A gy BY r d fail ME IM I 1 I 1 many injured in wisconsin 8 farming section st paul juno june 6 A tornado about 5 this afternoon did great dam age to property killed one man and injured many others in tile the vicinity of wyoming and north branch small towns about fifteen miles north of 0 here it is feared that other lives may have been lost path 00 yards wide the storm seems to have formed near lindstrom minn and swept in a northwesterly direction cutting a path about yards wide tor for a distance of fifteen miles everything in its pathway was laid bare even the grass being cut as though mo mowed vied with a scythe ben legoo and three men were in the direct path of the torm and took ref uge under a bridge crossing a small stream where the water was three I 1 feet deop deep the wind took the bridge from over their heads sucked all ail of the water out of tile the stream leaving leavin gt the bed perfectly dry all four of the men were hurt but none fatally all the buildings on the farm 0 of a I 1 man named magnusson Mag nisson were razed but he and his family escaped injury by taking refugo refuge in the root cellar farm houses razed the engdahl residence on pine island three miles from north branch was destroyed and mr engdahl Engdal il ST sr is reported dead the other members of the family received serious injuries at wyoming much damage was 1 done arn srn small buildings being razed and larger ones moved from their foundations the house and barn of henry I 1 funk was completely destroyed and I 1 his wife and son eon severely injured mrs funk and her 15 months month sold old babe in her arms when tho storm came up and i though she tried to cling to it it was blown away later it was vas found some istance distance 1 away unhurt but without a 1 butch atch of clothing on it at linwood Lina rood the stock farm bull buildings dings were destroyed and much valuable machinery damaged six injured in tornado la crosse wis june 6 six men were seriously injured and ten buildings were leveled by a tornado near stoddart wis tonight the storm swept over la crosso crosse halvor halvorson with five other injured people were brought to la crosse the others injured are mrs charles hip broken carl crushed by timber william jones concussion of the brain mrs louis and infant child may die julius granke internal injuries several others are more or less seriously hurt the hurricane centered apparently one and one half miles cast of stoddard vernon county it passed up c coon valley and mormon coulee striking stoddard and brinkman Brin kraan most heavily telephone communication is crippled and telegraph wires are down toward the south washouts Wa shouts reported in la crosse there was much damage though no person was injured washouts Wa shouts are reported on the ra railroads in this vicinity A windstorm also did damage at leon wis A bridge on the chicago burlington quincy road near stoddard was waa carried out and a 0 burlington passenger train carrying c passengers was flagged at the brink of the gap by t farmer named miller and many lives were saved many farms are reported to td be completely devastated |
