Show WILL MAKE CIT MOST w new car shop hlll fic erected facing twenty fourths street and other buildings will be increased r fir the plans for the ons expected improvements prove ments of the harraman Harrl man roads in this city show that few II 11 any ot the previous articles published were exaggerated and when completed the fact cannot bo gainsaid gain said that ogden will be a very important center on the harrl man system the new car shops will bo three fourths of a block long facing on twenty fourth street and one third of a block in width they will be situated just beyond the tracks running back in tho direction of the present repair shops and when completed this will bo one of tho largest railroad buildings in ogden the present new shop building will bo increased one third by an addition that will he built onto tho east side further cadt of the present shops and north of the present freight depot a largo foundry one quarter of a block in length will b erected on the west side ot which will be a platform extending the entire length of tho structure south of tho foundry and occupying the ground now occupied by the freight depot a large storehouse will bo built while to the north of the old shops a power house hlll be erected where the electric energy will bo generated the new cutoff cut off means much to these improvements as well as to the arrangement rearrangement re of the freight and passenger yards and there will be two leads off of the main union tracks to tho new cutoff cut off ono from twenty ninth street and the other from about thirty second street these two tracks will unite about thirtieth thus forming a wye this will enable the utah expedite and other through freights or even passenger trains it it Is so desired to go right through to salt lake without coming into ogden proper from the point where the wyo meets at thirtieth street tho new cutoff will run due west and cross the old weber river bridge after which tho route through the sand ridge and takes a sweeping curve to the south and meets the main line 0 tho present oregon short line tracks one arid one quarter south of evona or tho race track the network of tracks forming the main part of the passenger yards will extend as far south at twenty ninth street or a block beyond where they are now tho main switches will consist of the grouping of eighteen tracks while the passenger yard will havo seven tracks the double track of the main line will extend down as far as the east end of abo wye at thirty second street the viaduct at twenty fourth street will be built to within ono halt block of the weber river and on tho east approach will likely curve abruptly BO as to bring the ranco on the compa nys property on wall avenue if however can bo made with the property owners and the city this entrance will be on twenty fourth street when the whole of the work has been completed abo change will bo so complete BO as to obliterate almost every trace of the present location and will be a great factor in facilitating work at this point columbus ohio april 1 I alio presidents train passed columbus at this morning |
