Show ASSAULT ATTACKED AND BEAT THEIR FATHER ON JUNE 19 emil and louis larsen fined 15 each and placed under bond pending appeal the case of the state vs emil and louis larsan charged with battery in the assault alleged to have been made upon their father on june came bip for trial before judge murphy in the police court this morning after hearing the testimony judge murphy announced that there was no question in his mind but that the boya had committed the assault and assessed a fine of 15 each attorney J N kemball for tho defendants fend ants then announced that he would take aji appeal from the decision of the court and ball was fixed at 30 for each defendant the state presented the testimony of four witnesses mr larsen the complaining witness george amber dr D S taplan and dr abraham aerland Se rland mr larsen was the first witness lie testified that on the night of the assault he was going after his cows and noticing a dark spot in the field near the canal and supposing it to be one of his cows went over to investigate and discovered his sons emil and louis ho told them to leave the place whereupon they jumped up called him a vile name and assaulted him after which they ran away and he went to the house mr ambers testimony was as to mr lamsens Lar sens condition he having gone to mr ambers house to have his wounds attended to the day after the trouble at the time mr amber said mr lamsens Lar sens head on the right side was covered with clotted blood dr testimony was of the same nature as mr ambers he had not treated the man professionally and had simply noted that his head was bruised dr saland testified to having attended mr larsen the day after thal trouble the wounds ha said were not such as one would receive from being struck but looked to him to ba such aa might ba produced by a tall for the defense both emil annj louis larsen testified emil larsen the first witness stated that on the night of the trouble he and his brother were on their way to sea their mother when louis wheel began to bother him at the time they were riding along the canal on fathers land dismounting they started to investigate the cause ot the trouble when their father approached and or dried them off the place As they would not go mr larsen started to pick up a and anticipating brou trou ue he ran after his father and seized aim throwing him to the ground after which his father ran screaming to the house louis lamsens Lar sens testimony added nothing new simply corroborating the testimony of his brother when ho had concluded both sides announced that they rested their case county attorney appeared for the prosecution while the defense was represented by attorney J N kemball |
