| Show CAUSES AN EXODUS dwellers on lowlands fear a flood and leave houses during thunder accompanied downpour heppner ore july 12 A big electrical storm accompanied by a terrific rain occurred hero last A general downpour of rain commenced a i little before 8 and continued for an hour the people living on the flats ot willow creek moved to higher ground and at 10 a crush ot water with a tremendous roar camo down the willow creak canyon and in the darkness many people were alarmed in fear of another flood aside from washing out a few bridges tho damage was small in heppner however there waa considerable damage done in abo country by tho flooding the fields and the washing away ot hay along the willow creek bottoms the great flood ot last year cleared out the channel ot willow creek BO that the stream can now carry a great volume of water without doing much damage the railroad bridge between hero and heppner junction was damaged to some extent and the train was tin able to make the regular run but will be running regularly tomorrow |
