Show r Funeral Services Held For Malinda Willey Malinda Ann Adams Willey was born of pioneer parents Joseph Samuel Adams Adam and Isabell isabell Isabell Isa Isa- bell Adams in lay Layton Laylon to Mar 30 1877 In the new brick home of her grandparents Elias Ellas Adams and Malinda Railey galley Adams Her father as a boy nine nin years of age worked with her grandfather grand father Elias Adams to build the first home of 01 Sessions Sessions Ses in Bountiful ELIAS ADAMS was late in arriving at the Utah settle ment In 1850 he settled In Lay ton tom after a three year mission at Mount Pisgah as presiding elder responsible for aiding the many parties of Church members in their trek to the west Joseph S S. S Adams married mar marr vied ried Isabell Isabel Smith a convert girl from Liverpool England who immigrated with her sister sister sis sis sis- ter to Salt Lake City from Liverpool Liv Liverpool England in 1869 They arrived in the valley on the first Immigrant train to Ogden Malinda was the first of 14 children born to this couple and early in life tare learned the meaning meaning mean mean- ing of responsibility for when she was 24 years of age she was to lose her father The tragedy of Joseph Ad a m s' s II death left lert Malinda Melinda and her old oldest est brother Samuel to assist Isabell Isabel in rearing and schoolIng school school- Ing the balance of 01 the 14 chit chil dren NAN as she he was wu affectionately affection called cooked and attended attended at at- tended classes at Logan College making It possible for lor her brothers and sisters to attend college tier Her sister Katherine was the first Davis County resident res res- resident ident to obtain a degree from Logan College She later became be came ame an extension college pro fessor lessor In 1904 May 12 at the FarmIngton Farmington Farmington Farm Farm- Ington County courthouse Malinda Malinda Ma Ma- linda married William Wallace Willey Jr of Bountiful They made their home In Salt Lake City for many years while Mr Willey was working In the train service of the Oregon Short Line and Union Pacific Rail roads After retiring from Irom the railroad in 1926 1920 they moved to Bountiful and built a home at N N. N 2nd W W. Here lIere they reside resided ed the balance of their lives TWO CHILDREN were born to Malinda and Wallace Willey Wil ley a son Harold who died In infancy and a son William Wallace Eugene Willey now living in Chevy Chase Md Eugene Eugene Eu gene returned from a French mission in 1930 and obtained his masters master's degree from the University of Utah subsequently subsequent ly Iy teaching in the Salt Lake City high schools for four years In 1940 he was called to ac ace active tive Live duty and spent the next ten years with the Department of the Army He is now engaged engaged en en- as a management analyst analyst ana lyst in the Office of Rese Research and Engineering Post Office Department in Washington D D.C. D.C. D. D C C.
