EMPLOYERS LEAGUE new york may IC the T first steps toward effecting a general organization of the employers in the building trades for the purpose of offering united resistance si to the demands of the labor unions nighat meetings held in manhattan and brooklyn the meeting in was held in the building trades club employers being present and the throng being so great that overflow meetings were held in the various assembly rooms af pf the club the meeting waa private and at its close the following statement ivas given out as the sentiment of the various speakers the complete paralysis aff the building industry has been brought about by irresponsible combinations acting through a tyrannical board of walking delegates or business agents which demand prompt and energetic action by all good citizens who have the welfare of our great city at it is time that the decent and order loving mechanic assorts himself and defies the arbitrary demagogue who ties his hands and drowns his voice the delegate is a parasite on the body politic to be exterminated it was pointed out that this is not a question of wages or hours but a question of whether the irresponsible bod acs ics of men arc to be permitted to conduct the business of the employer and in so doing make it impossible for him to execute hi contracts and to dia charge the obligations and responsibilities which ae assumes and to which the co and the ladof the land bind him the extremes to which the unions have descended and the manner in which they nave repeatedly br contract 5 wil h their employers have alienated from them the sympathies of the public in brooklyn employers wet anil formed the employers league of the borough of brooklyn it was resolved to permit no interference with business by any individuals or organization sani that no walking delegates should be per bitted to enter any shop during working houm
