Show JR E K the prominent civil engineer succumbs to pneumonia Ws beath was the result cf an illness which lasted only five days and vas nit considered serious until last night charles K bannister died a t his rooms at the reed hotel at 5 this morning while his friends had been told last evening that his condition was critical hla death came as shock and a surprise to the and deep and profound regret because of his death and sympathy tor his family Is expressed by all who knew him mr bannister had but recently returned from the east where he had been in the interest of the weber canyon power dam project of which he was chief engineer and manager since his return he contracted a severe cold which grew serious enough to confine him to his bed last friday evening saturday pneumonia developed and since monday his condition has beba serious although the critical stage was not reached until last night for many hours before death ensued he was in a delirious condition and bis mind seemed to be occupied with the many engineering projects with which be had been connected during his life mr bannister was born in Caz novla N Y in 1847 at an early age he removed to canton N Y and there resided until he was 19 years old he anen went to evanston ill and graduated with classical honors from the northwestern university his father H M bannister was the president after graduation went to minnesota where he joined an engineering gi arps and first took up that profession during the period that elapsed between that time and 1889 he served as division engineer of the chicago and northwestern and 0 M st P also as division engineer of the union pacific at cheyenne during bia residence at cheyenne he was in charge of the construction of the cheyenne and northern from cheyenne to douglass in 1889 he came to ogden as chief engineer of the pacific short line and has resided here ever since during his residence in this city he has been identified with many of the power company and railroad projects in this section he was the originator igi of the original pioneer power company and financed the scheme and was consulting engineer of the present company at the time 0 his death he was also chief engineer and manager of the weber canyon power company a director of the salt lake ogden railroad and chief engineer ct the butte power company the arrangements for the funeral services in ogden will be announced later the interment will take place at evanston |
