reunion of ecclesiastical authorities thorit ties les ot of the weber stake of the church of jesus christ of latter day saints which took place today in the fifth ward meeting house partook to a great extent ot of the nature ot of a great family reunion those assembled ob edno formality which adds stiffness to the occasion and as a result the event proved one ot orf the most enjoyable in the he history ot of the members ot of the church ot of that ward Sl members embers ot of the first pre president deny sideny ot of the church and apostles arrived at 1045 in ogden over tha the oregon S short hort line and were met at the depot by president shurtliff lff and counsel counsellors Coun lors flygare and middleton of 0 weber sta stake ke carriages were in waiting and the party were immediately taken to the fifth ward meeting h house ouse where the members ot of the bishoprick bishoprics bish of the stake the high counsellors coun and heads of the auxiliary stake associations were already assembled the program commenced at ll 11 sharp on the stand were presidents snow and smith of the first presidency apostles calason lund and teasdale patriarch smith and president shurtliff lff and counsell counsellors Coun ors flygare and middleton president shurtliff presided over the assemblage the exercises were opened by a song by the choir followed by the invocation delivered by counsellor flygare president shurtliff then welcomed those assembled and extended a w welcome el from the ther members of 0 weber stake to president snow and party the choir again sang and president lorenzo snow addressed those present he said he could say for himself and those who accompanied him that he was glad to be present he did not wish to deliver a set discourse but felt as it if he was in the midst ot of a family and would talk in simple language langua goas as a father to a child it toe be would be permitted to use that expression just BO so much as his brethren exercised faith in his behalf in that degree would they draw out what he lie wished to bay say and he expected that at this reunion all alt would have a glorious time he ile referred to the sacredness of the building within which the exercises were being held there was something sweet and grand and glorious about the sacred precincts of the meeting house lie ile had never felt more at home to talk and to talk the fullness of his heart out his ills feelings were deep and broad and could not be expressed ed toward the president of weber stake hla his counsellors coun and all those assembled he lie recalled a visit to this spot 62 52 years ago in the he tall fall of 1849 when the foundation tor for a portion ot of zion was laid on that spot there were then about ten families living in what Is now ogden la in reply to a question of how many who were there in 1849 were present five hands were raised president snow referred with feeling to the absence of BO so many and took occasion to president C P F middleton in a few brief remarks spoke of spiritual and worldly conditions in the stake the choir sang bang 0 my father mrs john cully taking the solo part president smith briefly addressed the assemblage and was followed by tho the song by the choir 1 I know that my redeemer liveth sadie fowler taking the solo part A few brief remarks of a reminiscent character were made by joseph stanford and bishop followed by a double quartette of male voices the exercises were concluded by a few words from dishop bishop david mckay at the conclusion of the program an informal reception was given at which a general introduction was given followed by band shaking the people then adjourned to the fifth ward educational institute where a sumptuous banquet had been prepared three tables extended the en entire tire length of th tha 3 room and were covered by a dell clous repast prepared by the ladles ladies of the fifth ward the stage was beau decorated and a screen of potted plants Christen sens orchestra were concealed and treated the guests to delightful music during the banquet As the guests ente entered reil headed beaded by president snow the choir sang we thank thee 0 god for a Pro prophet I 1 the assemblage waa was boon n seated at the tables and being piled plied with blands by members of the Y L M 1 I ai A i who acted as waiters several photographs
