CRIMINAL CREATES A SURPRISE by concessin Conf confessing essin b to being a party to terrible crimes pittsburg pa june ID 10 the trial of john and edward ed ward biddle and walter dorman doman alias a D wilcox Wll cox for the murder of grocer thomas D kahney and detective patrick fitzgerald was opened today biddies entered a plea of not guilty but dorman created a surprise by pleading guilty the terrible double tragedy tor for which defendants are held responsible occurred on april last for weeks preceding the city was waa terrorized by a series of burglaries and robberies kahney was shot down in his home while standing unarmed in his night clothes and fitzgerald was killed a few hours later while attempting to arrest ithe defendants the wives ot of edward biddle and walter dorman ft ere arrested at the same time and will be tried on charges of receiving stolen goods will be tried separately and the case of John Biddle was called first it is believed hat that dorman will turn states evidence
