| Show ENGINEER KILLS HIS FAMILY after telling of the deed he commits suicide st louis june 5 A special to the post dispatch from macon mo says that james stacey an engineer aged fifty one living ten miles east of there on the burlington road today in a fit of mental aberration killed his wife and daughter aged 18 and then after relating iche fact to a neighbor shot biesek to death james an eight cearold ye arold son was spared the tragedy occurred early this morning when the were asleep stacey who for the pas t three years has freen a trusted engineer at the clarence water tank arose at 3 a m to go to work it Is known that he loved his family but it seems that when he awoke this morning he was seized alth an uncontrollable impulse to commit the horrible deed the wife was the first to suffer with a clock weight sent her into eternity by a mow on the left temple his daughter alma aged eighteen a beautiful girl was asleep la a room upstairs with james her brother there the father next went and picking up the boy laid him on a cot in an adjoining room then alth the clock weight the crazed man ended the life of his daughter as he had that of the wife shortly before daylight mrs sophia married daughter who lived near by ran over on some errand her father calmly told her what he had done and the frightened woman rushed to inform her husband who immediately ran over to the stacey home before he arrived he heard the report of a gun stacey was found lying on the porch with his head nearly blown off toy the contents of a heavily loaded shotgun he had placed the barrel in his mouth and pulled the trigger with his toes the little boy who Is unharmed Is unable to give any account of the tragedy stacey was a mason in good standing he was addicted to no bad hia ibUs and had it Is stated amassed quite a fortune he owned sixty acres of fine land and had other property his home life was peculiarly pleasant and in the village of clarence no family was more highly respected than was the dead wife was a sister of R E dale one of the most prominent citizens until now stachys staceys Stace ys sanity has never abeen questioned but now it Is thought long hours of work and loss of sleep unbalanced his mind and impelled him to commit the fright tul deed |
