| Show opposition TO WHISKEY TRUST new york sept 16 the times says the independent distillers of kentucky have notified the kentucky distilleries till eries and warehouse company that they propose to compete for the whiskey trade john F pogue of the committee of independent als tillers who recently visited new york and had a satisfactory conference with the officers of the organization said in on interview we have the plants the brands and the capacity and will be stronger than the trust our association will be a unit and will work for our interest we have 95 plants there has bee an implied agreement that this years production would not exceed sixteen million gallons and of this the opposition wanted to take then negotiations ended we reported to the independent distillers at a meeting in louisville last week and organized the kentucky distillers association and decided to make our output gallons for the season of 1899 1900 our fight will be made in a thoroughly businesslike business like and conservative serva tive manner A meeting of our association will be held september 27 when a permanent organization will be effected and officers elected |
