| Show FROM NEW MEXICO DR A S CONDON SENDS A SMALL DONATION TO THE FAIR the following communication with enclosure ot 5 was received from dr A S condon a day or two ago post hospital fort bayard new mexico august 1899 hon john A boyle ogden utah my dear friend enclosed please find my little mite to aid in a small way the building ot the new meeting on tabernacle square in ogden and which I 1 ask you to kindly hand to the proper officer having the undertaking in charge ever since I 1 left home I 1 have watched with interest everything that has been done for the good of ogden and for the comfort and happiness of her people and I 1 tell like doing what I 1 can to speed them on it the people of ogden and weber county will only pull together and let religious matters alone except on sundays and politics except from conventions to elections and buy only what la made and grown at home when you can do as well and spend your money when seeking pleasure and recreation at your theartres theatres the atres and resorts then will you save for your own enjoyment all the money you make and it in addition to this you will own your city utilities such as the water works and lights and telephones and street cars and several others and bestow all franchises for the building of sewers and paving streets and feeding and apprehending prisoners and caring tor haupers paupers pau pers and the like on the merciful philanthropic millionaire then will you make more money than you do now and have more to spend on the comforts of life I 1 expect to see borne of this done in ogden in the near future glasgow scotland I 1 believe was the first to lead in that direction and these who know say that her transformation from squalor to affluence has been little less than miraculous other cities are now following along that line till it la becoming a fashionable craze and spreading everywhere I 1 feel like saying a whole lot more on this subject but will alvo you blittle at a time until I 1 get home which will probably be ana few weeks I 1 wish those who have the meeting giouse project in view all possible good luck n their scheme of building and when that undertaking is completed I 1 want to eee them build school houses aind factories and comfortable homes and paved streets hut about the queen of your carnival I 1 do not see tow you can make a fair selection for every woman in weber county Is a queen and I 1 have given that subject considerable attention and therefore am entitled to speak better get them all together and let them draw lots otherwise there will be repeating at tho ballot box and some one will set a trap that like tho lamented col peytons rabbit trap will coch urn cummin an coch um going very truly your friend A S CONDON |
