Show S 'S y 1 The Young Man Steps In Its It's Jaycee Week r Jaycees Work For Better Community Several Se years ago in a small but vicc vice ridden ridden community on the cast coast a group of young men banded together in an attempt attempt attempt at at- tempt to stamp out the evil and crime flourishing in their town They were persecuted threatened abused but in the end this community w was a s cleaned up The group of stalwart stalwart stalwart stal stal- wart young men referred to were Jn Jaycees cees IN INA A LARGE midwestern cit city recently a n group of young oung men reclaimed 75 acres of swamp and turned it into a large arge park complete with pla playground playground play play- ground so that the people of the city might have a place to amuse themselves The young men responsible were Jaycees Last year In Salt Lake City an organization of ot young oung men decided that Main Street needed needed needed need need- ed a face lifting This year in Salt Lako City Main Street sports evergreen trees Who was responsible The Salt Sail Lake Jaycees I Older residents of Bountiful indeed some of oC the younger I f will remember p e Days and the purpose for which it was intended the Youth Center which for Cor sometime sometime sometime some some- time was the headquarters for our younger set Guess who inaugurated inaugurated inaugurated in in- the Ule whole affair affair- the Bount Bountiful ul Jaycees LOOK AROUND you citizens see the ball parks Jaycees again The swimming pool The Bountiful Jaycees had a small but important part to topia play pia so that our children may learn to swim Miss 1 Bountiful in J all Jall all her beauty and glory would could not have been crowned were there were it not for the Jaycees Who are arc these young men of or action And what is their purpose purpose purpose pur pur- pose These are young men between between be be- tween the ages of 21 and 35 who firmly believe that community service is tho the best work in life and who arc gaining a practical cal education in politics public I speaking and other facets of or I leadership training They are 1 the young white collar worker work work- er or new to this community who joined in the hope of winning new friends and found a whole new way of life liCe community service 2 the farmer who joined because of a friends friend's urging and who has found a means of expression for far his ideas on community development development development develop develop- ment 3 the young oung school schoolteacher schoolteacher schoolteacher teacher who joined to fill an inner need to do something worthwhile and who even now may be heading a committee to start a new library a new park or perhaps a new youth center I TIlE THE JAYCEES have taken these people from Crom all ll walks of life from all creeds and colors colors colors col col- ors and have formed out of them The greatest moving force for peace in the world today today to to- da day besides the United Nations Nations Nations Na Na- in the words of Dwight D 0 D.
