began today after three days 01 ol of demonstrations the business of the session was inter rubw however by a parade of the civic and industrial organizations in the afternoon thia this parade was in celebration of peace a jubilee day over one hundred concerns were represented in the line with decorated wagons gons bodies ol 01 employee emp loyes some and all in gay uniforms while fifty secret military political and other bodies were represented by over ten thousand men as escorts to the peace floats this demonstration was followed by high carnival all over the city there were national dele dole sates present when the encampment proper was called to order at music hall trall at 10 a m with charles wentzel as officer of the day the welcoming address was delivered by governor bushnell ot of ohio with supplemental addresses by mayor tafel tale ot of cincinnati M EIn galls chairman 01 ol of the citizens committee and president of tha the big four font and chesapeake and ohio railways just net pride to our fellow soldiers and sailors of the present era we extend our congratulations aa as bear heartily tily aa as it is in our power to do BO so recognizing as we do that our other causes total 46 on rolls jane june SO 1893 net increase for year 17 7 pensions army and navy paid in 1898 fees paid examining surgeons agencies salaries and expenses bureau salaries and per diem mckinless McKinIe McKin leys ys name but when the name of secretary alger in connection with the recent war wan was mentioned there was an uproarious demonstration in hia his favor after the reports had bad been referred to their respective committees many resolutions were offered specifically endorsing the administration of gen aler alger in the he war department the temper of the encampment as shown today indicates that the resolutions will endorse the management of the recent war A resolution was introduced to lave have the school histories use the term of the war between the states instead ot the war of the rebellion reb e eliou 11 it is quite likely that resolutions will be adopted providing for the uee use of the term the war tor for the preservation ot of the union there will also be an effort to secure representation for the colored men in the national encampment 0 S great interest was taken in the selection of the committee on resolutions owing to the endorsement of
