| Show seen in colorado the editor of the lehl banner has been on a tour of the farming sections of colorado the following excerpt from bis account 0 the will be of especial interest to our farmers and these who take an interest in agricol after a pleasant visit in we left for greely one of the garden cf northern colorado in the afternoon mr gestand Ve stand mr sanborn accompanied us on a drive through the fields and showed us the greatest potato producing district in the world we saw field after field of spuds with straight rows half ft mile long and scarcely a weed to be seen the most of these fields will produce bushels per acre they can also grow other crops for on all sides we caw fine fields of grain and lucerne all of which are irrigated the farmers told as that they did not manure the land and though they grow ucb excellent crops the land is getting batter each year this is because of the rotation ot chopa in vogue there first they plant lucerne and crop it for two years the third year this is plowed up n the spring when the lucerne is about A fot high and potatoes are planted the next year grain is grown aad with the grain is eown the lucerne aeed and next year there ia a good crop of hay thus they continue chancing year after fter year because they eay rotation of crops has made that district what it is one of the best farming districts in this country tha town of greely contains about people but has some of the finest and loveliest homes of any town of ita size we ever saw there are no fences but the lawns reach down to the sidewalks while flower beds and ornamental len 3 to the beauty of the surroundings inthe center of the town is a pretty little p rk covering two blocks where the people assemble in cool eu aimer evenings and listen to the music 0 the bands |
