E in Bountiful Boun- Boun may be viewed in various parts of the new Bountiful city hall mil for the next month THE TilE PAINTINGS are all done in oil and consist of landscapes landscapes land land- and scenes of oC the intermountain intermountain intermountain inter- inter mountain a area ea They should be both interesting and inspiring to all who avail themselves of the opportunity to view them Some are hung in the library some in n the council chamber and some in the court room with a number in the hall City Manager Manager Manager Man Man- ager Oberg expressed himself as ver very pleased with the exhibit exhibit ex- ex hibit libit after it was recently hung A similar but larger exhibit was shown at the Midvale Library Library Li Li- during the tile month of Ap Ap- ril Since that time Mrs Spiess has been fortunate enough to sell some of her work so that the present exhibit is not the same in its entirety as the Midvale Midvale Midvale Mid- Mid vale exhibit She also has many beautiful paintings at her home on on East MRS 1 SPIESS has been painting painting painting paint paint- ing for Cor only four years and is at present continuing her studies studies stud stud- ies iek under Harold D. D Olsen whose work has achieved national national national na na- na- na recognition Though relatively young in inthe inthe inthe the field of art Mrs Spiess has hai already achieved some recognition recognition and honor when she placed first in the amateur art division at the Utah State fair for the past two years and received received received re re- re- re an honorable mention a athe at atthe atthe the Utah State Institute of Fine Arts held at the state capitol capito capitolin in June of last year MRS SPIESS has shown shO some of her work on a number of oC occasions but this is only the second time that she has had hac hadan hadan an exhibit of her own paintings exclusively She feels that painting is z a rewarding interest and avocation avocation avoca avoca- I tion and that it it ft can answer a aI I great need in in life life as one approaches approaches approaches ap ap- ap- ap the days of restricted activity and possible retire retire- ment Surely an interest in this exhibit exhibit exhibit ex ex- hibit could be of value to many Bountiful residents in helping helpin them to i see the possibility o of similar interests as well as giving giving giving ing real encouragement to a an interesting and stimulating fellow fellow fellow fel fel- fel- fel low citizen p pj |
