Show hog millet mn BIB EDITOR A farmer cowed sowed a email small patch of this ibis millet here bere in 1894 and col got nearly a bushel of seed in 1893 1895 be he sowed this on two acres and got over ninety bushels ba ehele in 1896 a good many towed sowed some to try it one man sowed nine bushels cut it in fiftysix fifty six daye days and it threshed oat out bushels of fine seed another bowed four bushels slay may cot cut it july and it threshed out bush bushels elsa in 1897 a good many hundred acrea acres were sown but it did not do eo so well it was too wet it does best in it dry season the drier and hotter it fete gets the faster it grows the stalks and bi blades ades ate are like other millets I 1 but the heads beads are more like caco cane when the beede set get ripe the stalks and blades are green and it makes fine bay I 1 have nice bright 0 lay hay both common millet and prairie hay bay but my etoal wont eat it if i they can get the hoz millet hay bay my hories leaves their grain for it I 1 tiava have farmed fifty years and feed a good many kinds of hay bay bat but never fed any that eatock liked better than this my horeck bo keep faton fat on it I 1 ri raise lite alfalfa bat but my stock eat the hoe hog millet hay bay I 1 airet grind the seed and feed it to hogs bogs and it will fatten them quicker than any thins I 1 ever fed chickens wiil will scratch a stack down in time for the aeed believing this millet will do well in your country and benefit farm farmers ersI have written the above and hope yon may give it space in your paper i haye have no seed to nell A few ot of nay my neighbors have some and if any of your readers want to try it I 1 will get let the seed and pot put it on the cars here lor for them yours truly WM COLEMAN mccolic ic nebraska |
