Show MONTANA alian the people of montana have decided to blend their political differences in a grand conciliation of party contentions by making tho democracy of that state an all embracing silver party the candidates of which are to come from the silver element of the state irrespective of former affiliations this plan has been devised for the purpose of solidify ing the ranks of silver or the bryan adherents and at the same time paving the way to send speakers who would otherwise be kept at home watching state politics into doubtful t tales to proselyte for the cause which the people ol 01 the intermountain country hold to be so essential to the welfare of the nation this idea strikes us as haviar much of merit to it and worthy of the attention of the people of utah instead of promoting internal discord let us devise wave and means for harmonizing minor political differences by this we do not hint at any compromise with those who are not in full accord with the nominees of the democratic convention and the principles they stand tor but WB do suggest that the democracy of utah being cognizant of the thousands of voters formerly members of oilier parties who have lately joined the rank provo liberal enough to acknowledge the prea of these independent thinkers and broad enough to drive away all possibilities of dissension by making political fellowship an accepted fact a disposition to probate the new recruit or to take on au air of welcome western dilver republicans as heretofore known have been second to none in advocacy of the paramount issue on which bayan and bewail stand and though their party has forsaken them and they have been driven into the house of their jovn architecture which the finish loe touches biava embellished with the name of democracy thoy arc none the less by right of precedent and good works entitled to the attention and food graces of their host and hostess there should not be an avowed effort made to reward republican recruits by office giving the principle they stand for needs no 1 ri either should there be a sentiment against them partaking of the of party favors within the reach of the oldest and most devoted adherents to democracy so far there hag been no inclination within the democratic party to do other than what is in proper keeping with the spirit surrounding the present reforming of party lines at least we have detected nothing of tho kind therefore we view the montana plan as a movement which could be followed in state with little or no friction the consummation af which would do the cause of bryan and silver much good by re hultine in sending our public speakers into the mississippi valley or the extreme baat |
