| Show robt G ingersoll very III chicago nov 20 paroxysmal attacks of pain wrenched the form of robert G ingersoll while he tossed on a eick bed in the great northern hotel tonight no one was permitted to see him but physicians and hie daughter maude who has accompanied him on his last lecture tour and hip secretary 0 P farrell the condition of col ingersoll is cerious ee rious he has cancelled all the remaining dates of his lecture tour in which be was engaged when he was stricken his malady is pronounced to be sciatica reports from elgin and freeport Free in the latter ot which cities the lecturer cancelled engagements gave a more serious view of the colonels illness at elgin the statement was made that the orator bad been stricken with an attack resembling paralysis he reached thia city this evening at 5 and was driven to the great northern hotel chief clerk whipple made special arrangements to provide comfort for the guest until he should feel able to continue his journey to new york mr farrell said that col ingersoll InK ersoll would be able to proceed to new york leaving tomorrow morning over the lake and michigan southern at 10 unless a turn for the worse should take place during the night his condition is not alarming said mr farrell it is cerious and the pain be ie suffering apparently so areat that it seems almont impossible for him to beatr up under it but we believe that he will soon recover he suffered auch from the same malady when he was a boy but this is the first attack he has felt since that time the pains are confined to the left leg extending from the hip to the foot |
