Show WOOD instead OF COAL may be used at the schools last evenings school board meeting A few routine matters were considered by the school board at its regular meeting last evanine eve nine all members were present ane date for voting on the question ol 01 issuing bonds wan not set but it was decided to hold a meeting at 4 i this after oon with the attorney for that burpoe and to decide how the voting ahall be conducted chairman dee of the finance commit tee reported that interest on the bond issue was due and recommended that abe same be paid and an order to that effect wag made at the last mc etting of the board the proposition of burning wood at the different dif lerent schools instead ot coal came up and was considered at length it being contended aliu buildings could be heated cheaper with wood than with coal etwas decided to give this a email teet which was done at one of the buildings with the result of an average of per dy cheaper by using wood than by using coal however this was not considered a thorough test and last evening it was decided to buy twenty five cords of wood and give it a fair teet and it is found to be much cheaper alian coal it ie probable that the board will use wood entirely the clerk was authorized to receive bids on furnishing wood until nest wednesday when the bids will be opened i emerson reported that the special committee had ordered caiti of the school buildings to printed in the edition of THE emerson also reported regarding sir application to furnish coal across the river that he had ceen all carlies concerned and those who are now furnishing coal to the schools in that portion of the city are willing to give over their contract to sir short so it was decided to give sir short the contract of furnishing coal north ot tho river for alio balance of abe year clerk reported that had been received from the salt lake board of education to help to py the expenses at alie recent suit of the board against the tax collector and that the mount had been turned over to the treasury applications were received for positions AS teachers from the following helen 0 mabel rogers arse J bishop laura S gertson abey were filed A coal bill for was allowed and he meeting adjourned |
