S She married Willard G. G Carr Oct 11 1905 When she was five live years old her father started to teach her herto herto herto to set type for or his small paper called The Little Clipper From then until now she has worked in the printing business She has helped wrap and pack supplies for or the elections in the state of Utah 59 years cars md and is still helping She has been heen in the Bountiful First Ward Relief Society Pre i. i deney dency has taken care of oC funeral flowers for Cor the last 16 years has been a ward teacher and class leader in Relief Society She has been very active in I genealogy work and Temple work Mrs Carr was production chairman for lor the Davis County Chapter of oC the American Red Jross toss ross during World War Two of oC yards ards of or cloth Slid and hundreds of oC pounds of oC yarn I were made into clothing which was used for Cor service men on I the high seas at Christmas time service ervice men in action in military military mili mili- tar tary hospitals for lor dependents of service men and for lor disaster I victims and war orphans and widows and war-made war refugees All articles were labeled recorded recorded recorded re re- corded packed and shipped by Mrs Carr and her production corps II Mrs Carr had the cooperation cooperation tion of oC church groups of all denominations clubs and indi- indi c duals in the chapter She kept an accurate record of oC all material material mater mater- i ial l sent out and returned and made a report each month forthe for forthe forthe the area office in San Francisco She gave over 1000 hours of oC service and earned an award certificate a volunteer pin and anda a World War One pin She conducted conducted con con- ducted a button buttOR drive in th the e chapter and collected bushels of cC buttons fox for use on clothing When there was no longer a aneed aneed need for lor the buttons the remain n ing ones were given to a Bo Boy ny y Scout button drive In 1947 she was given the assignment ent as historian of oC the Davis County DUP Camp to gather and compile the first 50 years of oC the History of oC Davis County After Alter two years of oC int in- in t t. t work she was able to tove hive ve published a fine book called called cal cal- led East of Antelope Island it At the same time she stia was s doing do do- ing this she was captain of the Kimball I Camp In 1953 she was Chosen captain of oC a new camp called the Mary Flint Call Camp At present she is the historian of that camp 2 She is the mother of ten children children chil dren six of them living 32 grandchildren 16 great grand grand- children Her sons have held important church positions been in bishoprics clerks stake MIA dance leaders choirs flaying musical tits t s sand sand and singing at many funerals Her daughter has been active in n every ery church organization including ward organist Relief Society theology theolog class leader and also DUP vice captain Three of oC her sons were in the thc se vice at the same time One son lost his life liCe He lie was a cap captain tats tain r r. the air force Coree One son has filled a mission and two have C 3 been on stake missions One son is a Three mayor sons ore are now running Carr Printing Company Five of her grandsons have ha either cither completed o- o oare arc are now fil Ill filling l ling rg an Mission For many years ears Mrs 1 Carrand Carr Carrand Carrand and her husband lived on a farm Carm and grew some of the earliest tomatoes in the state of oC Utah They also grew prize winning red Astrachan Apples Mrs Carr has always alwa's worked in her garden raising many beautiful flowers Jowers many of oC which she has given away to friends She has always been bus busy with her needle crocheting making quilts and fanc fancy work After she was fifty she took look lookup i up china painting and mademan made man many lovely pieces Thirty eight years ago her husband was called as chairman chairman chairman chair chair- man of or the g genealogical committee committee comm com com- m in Centerville Their big project was to get more people going to the Temple so Mrs Carr went to the General Board I of oC the Relief Society and got Instructions on how to make Temple clothing She has made mademan man many hundreds of oC such since then Her hobby now is to make one for Cor each grandchild and mate when they get married At present she has made 24 complete sets She and her husband have worked in every temple except London and Swit Swit- In 1954 she broke her hip This has slowed her somewhat but has not stopped her work In 1959 she and her husband took tooka a vacation to Australia and the South Pacific Islands Mrs Carr is keenly interested interested ted in current events yet she seems to always have time to visit the sick the elderly the shut shut-in and to extend a word worda o of C congratulation to anyone who h has s achieved d a milestone in their life lire r p a i iti r ti 3 J A r r. r w w r r |
