Show BROUGH interviewed daniea the allegations and will fight to the end following the publication in yesterdays of the extra sensational charges contained in the complaint ot certain of tho stockholders of the citizens bank against assignee charles M broseh and theodore robison STANDARD today interviewed mr brough and obtained from him the following statement of course I 1 was greatly surprised to ie rn that any such charges as are alleged by the plaintiffs would he made the and bously obtaining the order for the ap cointment of a receiver without any notice whatever to either myself or my attorneys tor the charges which are made by the plaintiffs are serious in their nature and of course demand and so far as I 1 can assist shall receive the earliest investigation vesti gation in the courts that being the tribunal in which they should be con it is somewhat peculiar that as there the capital stock of the citizens hank issued and held by the stockholders that only the holder of shares have seen fit to bring this suit I 1 believe that the owners or holders ot the majority of the stock of the bank well know that the charges made by the plaintiffs are unfounded and ill advised 1 I have instructed my attorneys to use their utmost endeavors to cause a bearing of these chergee to be brought before the court at the courte earliest opportunity for a hearing and the fullest investigation and they tell me that they believe the court will take up the matter next week 1 I dont care to try this case in the newspapers and I 1 unequivocally say that these charges eo far as they reflect upon me either personally or as assignee of the Cit liens bank or aa its cashier are unqualifiedly false I 1 leave lived in utah for the past twenty four years and I 1 believe that my record aa business man is kiich that alie beneral public should not pass its opinion upon the merits of this question until the same is passed upon by the courts 1 I did not seek the appointment of assignee of the citizens bank but the trust and confidence of that office was reposed in me by the stockholders and as I 1 well remember with not a single dissenting vote I 1 assumed the important responsibilities of the kofl ice of assignee the first odthe year and since that collected and paid off about of the indebtedness of the bank in fact everything except three or tour claims which are now in litigation and which amount to lesa than 1500 while mayor brough was talking receiver J 0 armstrong approached to make formal demand upon him of the books papers and all assets of the bank now in his mr brough said he would maki the surrender immediately and ahti transfer is being made ss THE goes to prees L R roger 0 evans A rogers who have been retained by the devenae said that every effort will be made to ave the matter fully investigated speedily in the court that they are now prepared tor a he arini ana trial and shall insist upon the plaintiff coming into court and making their charges good they can |
