city are all liberals but on national politics are equally divided three democrats and three republicans the fifth ward without doubt tho election returns from the fifth ward will be reversed when alio matter receives investigation mr patterson was defeated by only two votes mr watsons being two but in that ward were fraudulent votes cast being a straight republican ticket with the exception that the name of adam patterson for councilman was left off and the name of II 11 0 gilbert printed in its stead these ballots were peddled at the polls by an employee of the gas and electric light co until he was told to leave tho polls which he did these fraudulent ballots however did not elect mr gilbert mr john watson boing the real but unconscious and inno of the wrong doing other fraudulent votes arc also known to have been polled and when these mat are given attention by tho proper authorities the result will bo changed notes that little funny work in the second ward was pretty transparent no salt lake heralds were received in ogden yesterday has that paper suspended or did it simply TO down for one alay in tho general democratic smash the democrats were busy yesterday explaining how it happened aid in rubbing each others sore places first blood for alie republican party in ogden the republican majority in ogden was not large but considering the vigorous fight made against the ticket by the opposition it was enough as a starter next time it will bo larger |
