recommending that the mayor be requested to or order der electric lights at the corner of twenty fifth street and quincy avenue and twenty sixth street and quincy ailcy avenue adopted on public buildings and grounds reporting several bida bids to sell ground to the city for park and cemetery purposes recommending that the offers be read and laid upon the table for one week in order to allow the councilors councillors Counci lors to institute private investigation report adopted the bids were all read at length and in a accordance with the recommendations laid upon uron tho the table for future consideration on paving recommending that the report of the city engineer which recommended om mended that the grade in the center of twenty fifth be reduced two tenths feet in order to facilitate paving be adopted report adopted the mayor reported that he lie had not ordered certain electric lights placed as the contract with the ogden gag gas light and fuel company boon soon expires and he did not deem it advisable to place any a additional lights until a new contract amade is made the report also stated that the crematory is completed with the exception of the approaches and recommends that the work be done at once also that the remodeling and nd renovating renova ting of the old fir emens quarters is nearing completion in regard to the bad condition of the approaches pro aches to the city hall from washington avenue the mayor reported that all efforts to compel the parties who laid the walks to make the detects defects good bad had failed and recommended that the walks be repaired and suit instituted against the contractors who did the work embodied in the report was a recommendation that the city purchase for the tile use of the a copy of the terri brand book the mayor was wa 9 given power to act in the matter of building the approaches to the crematory and his other recommendations were adopted on an motions made by various 0 us councilors councillors counci lors suit against the contractors who laid the walks around the city hall will be commenced at once the mayor was requested to look into the matter of the litigating of the cit cily y a and nd ascertain upon what terms a new contract can be made the city attorney submitted three ordinances din ances one tor for the diving of twenty fifth street and making an assessment to defray the expenses ther thereof eor one grant ing additional time to the henderson brinker street railway company and one for the widening of certain sidewalks the city auditor reported that the interest on the improvement bonds issued in 1883 1888 amounting to 2 will become due on july the city recorder was instructed to draw a bond for the amount PETITIONS john A boyle james P 8 sprunt william V hellrich and twelve twelve others for the immediate improvement of that much neglected thoroughfare thirtieth street referred to the committee oa streets with power to act J S lewis J 11 II spargo L B adams D 11 II peery barnard white and sixty lour four others among whom were ome of agdens leading citizens asking asking that the city do not purchase any additional land for park and cemetery purposes every mem berof the council several gentlemen took the position that the city could not at present dispense with tho the revenue derived from the licensing ol 01 merchants as the estimated expenditures for 1892 much exceeded the revenue the opposition contended that the present ordinance ie is unquestioned in its ten tendencies denel and should be repealed one reason being that no other 31 1893 1993 an ordinance amending sections 6 and 6 cb chapter apter 7 of the compiled ordinances 01 ol 01 city providing that all sidewalks in the city shall be sixteen feet wide vide except on
