I beg leave to report that I from your offije, received notices to be p t ed in regard to the municipal Election here with the instruction to erase, if too many offices were on the list and add if not enough. In older to comply therewith as I did not know how many offices the City is entitled to I went to ihe Mayor and he informed me that two years ago seven councilors were elected, hut onlv five were commissioned, com-missioned, and therefore he thought five would be the number and so I posted the no ices aixord nfly, subsequently a caucus wss held and ; five councilors nominated but then a few dayt afterwards after-wards the Mayor ctme to me and taid he had cousulted the City's Attorney Judge Jacob Johnson, at Spring City.and was by him informed that by a ruling in the District Court it wat decided that 7 Councilors wtra the proper number for Cities of the c'ass Ephraim belonged to, I men told him if lie desired me to, I would change the five on the notice's to seven and he said he did, and so I changed chang-ed the numbtt to tveo AJpubl c mee nj was called, and held last Saturday mg hi the mayor stating the reasons why the meeting was called but the majority of those present decided to take rro action 111 regard to nominating any m.e pei-sous pei-sous but at the Election a number of votes were cast for seven councilors, ilic additional two being Henry Green and Peter Schwa Ibe.
